As you can tell, it's been quite awhile since I last wrote anything. My sweetheart came home from the hospital, started to improve then suddenly one day, things went sour. I had to have him taken to the hospital again. He started bleeding and we couldn't get it stopped. He was in terrible pain and he had to be heavily sedated but I could still see him quiver when the pain got to be too much. I began to pray that God would take him home so he wouldn't suffer anymore. After a couple of days in the hospital I made arrangements again to take him home to die. I didn't want him in the hospital and I knew he didn't want to be there either. If he was going to die it was going to be at home. He was brought home and he lasted long enough for his favorite grand daughter to get there to tell him good bye and that she loved him, then his breathing got quieter and he slipped away into the waiting arms of our Lord and Savior. Peace at last. No more sorrow, no more pain. Only the wonders of heaven to be enjoyed for eternity.
Now I'm without the love of my life. The only man that ever made me feel like a person of worth, of value and very much loved! I have wonderful memories that will be forever cherished.
He was an unusual man. A man of many talents, one of which was singing. He loved to sing and it seemed that the only songs he ever sang were hymns. His brother and a friend had formed a trio, way back in the 50's and actually recorded several songs. They went about the local area and sang at various churches. We used to sing as a duet on a few occasions as well. How many people sing at their own funeral? Not many I'm sure, but Richard did, and it was great to hear his voice that had been so strong and sure!
I could go on about this man I loved so much, but since you didn't have the privilege of knowing him I won't say anymore. I believe the things I've said, say a lot about him. Thank you for reading my blog. This is good for the soul.
